San Marcos, Texas is located along the burgeoning IH-35 corridor, midway between Austin and San Antonio. This historic community was founded in 1851, along the natural spring-fed San Marcos River. The jewel of the city, the pristine river is a destination for travelers worldwide, as well as for locals who enjoy water sports of all varieties. With mild winters and hot summers, the city has great opportunities for outdoor adventures, with many parks, trails, and river or creekside green spaces with public access.
